Dar Al-Hekma College, in collaboration with Babson
College and Wellesley College in Boston, USA and the ICF
Foundation in Washington, D.C. USA, are offering the
following program to undergraduate students at Dar Al-Hekma
College and other participating local colleges on the
theme of Social entrepreneurship.
Social entrepreneurship addresses pressing social needs
by applying business principles such as innovation and
accountability. As the world searches for new ways to
address old problems, it is important for emerging
leaders to understand the theory and practice of social
entrepreneurship so they can apply it to their own lives
and communities.
A. Course I: Introductory Seminar on Social
Entrepreneurship
Course capacity: 100 students
Number of credits: 1
Seminar venue: Dar Al Hekma College
Seminar dates: Wednesday, April 1: 3 pm – 7 pm
Thursday, April 2: 9 am – 7 pm
Wednesday, April 8: 3 pm – 7 pm
Thursday, April 9: 9 am – 7 pm
Note: Full attendance in Course I is required for
eligibility for applying for Course II
B. Course II: Symposium on Social Entrepreneurship
Course capacity: 30 students
Number of credits:1
Symposium venue: Babson College, Boston, MA, USA
Symposium dates: July 10 -25, 2009
Note: Thirty students will be selected from Course I and
finalists notified by April 17. Travel to U.S. is
involved and parental permission required to register
for this course
C. Project Implementation
Course capacity: 100 students
Number of credits: 1
Projects venue: City of Jeddah
Coordination center: Dar Al Hekma College
Implementation period: 27 September – 16 December, 2009
Note: Open to all Course I students and required for all
Course II students
